Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about affiliation, browser processing, starter presets, formatting, rule browsing, validation, and installation.

These answers explain the toolkit’s scope before you invest time in a configuration. For a reproducible problem not covered here, use Contact and include the selected game, minimal input, expected result, and actual result. Keep a known-good file before editing.

Is this the official FilterBlade service?

No. This is an independent, unofficial fan-made toolkit. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Grinding Gear Games, NeverSink, or filterblade.xyz. Its code, explanatory text, and starter rules are original. A similar topic or name does not mean that accounts, presets, support requests, or saved settings transfer between these services.

Does my filter text get uploaded?

The tools are designed to process pasted filters and item text in your browser. Ordinary page requests still reach the website and its host. Contact messages are different: submitting a form transmits the information you provide. Do not include secrets in filter comments or support reports. Optional local saving, where offered, uses your browser’s storage rather than account synchronization.

Are presets based on live item prices?

No. The builder uses original starter data, not live economy feeds or copied NeverSink tiers. Presets demonstrate filtering and styling choices. Review them for your character’s needs, test important exceptions, and avoid assuming that a highlighted item has a particular current trade value. Economy and personal usefulness are different questions.

Which strictness level should I choose?

Start conservatively when uncertain about what your character still needs. Reduce repeated distractions one category at a time while preserving upgrades. Preset names are descriptive rather than universal standards across authors. The Strictness Explorer explains this site’s starter tradeoffs; generated rules show what your chosen file actually does.

Can Filter Formatter repair an invalid file?

No. Filter Formatter changes leading indentation and blank-line layout. Its output uses LF line endings and ends with a newline; it does not change quoted text, comments, import statements, instruction arguments, or block order. A malformed quote can prevent formatting, but a successful format is not a validation result. Compare the formatted version with your original, run the validator, and confirm the intended saved revision in the client.

Does Filter Rule Explorer show what happens to my item?

No. Filter Rule Explorer indexes the Show, Hide, and Minimal blocks written in supplied text. Search matches headers and instruction keywords, not arbitrary item names or values inside rules. Raw snippets and source line numbers help you find a condition, but the tool does not evaluate an item, resolve an Import, or prove a block is reachable. For a representative copied item try Item Tester, then verify behavior in the client.

Does successful validation guarantee the filter works?

No. The validator checks supported syntax and reports known warnings. It cannot certify every client feature, resolve arbitrary local imports, or decide what items your character should want. Follow syntax checks with representative item tests and a client load. A documented review date is not proof of testing against the latest game patch.

Why does the item tester say unknown?

Unknown means an unsupported condition, missing item property, unresolved import, or another limitation prevents a definite conclusion. It does not mean the item will be shown or hidden. Preserve uncertainty, inspect the indicated rule, and obtain missing evidence. The tester is more useful when it exposes its boundary than when it guesses.

Can the browser check my custom sound files?

Not automatically. A web page cannot freely browse your game directory. Unless you explicitly provide suitable file information, sound availability remains unverified. Check the referenced filename and test it in the client environment. An unverified sound is not necessarily missing, and a valid sound instruction does not prove that the local asset exists or plays at a comfortable volume.

Can I sync a filter to my game account?

This toolkit does not provide OAuth or account synchronization. It offers local generation and inspection workflows. Follow the installation guide for the supported manual approach and its platform limitations. Prefer current client controls over an old hardcoded folder path. Keep a known-good backup and confirm that the selected file, not merely a similarly named download, is active.
